In the secret depths of your despair oh, won't you check your work not once but twice to find that you're still there preserved in the details of a blurry bigger picture but I never got any better or stronger from carrying that weight. Some things just happen and they make you strange. Well I don't know if I dreamt it or if I said it in passing if I ever treated you unkind it's just a reflection of how I treat myself But mostly I had it comin' and I can't explain it away Some things just happen and they make you strange now I can't relate They made me strange now I can't look away.

You're not punk, and I'm telling everyone Save your breath, I never was one You don't know what I'm all about Like killing cops and reading Kerouac My enemies are all too familiar They're the ones who used to call me friend I'm coloring outside your guidelines I was passing out when you were passing out your rules One, two, three, four Who's punk, what's the score? Got a friend, her name is Boxcar Cigarettes and beer in El Sob Her hair was blue, now it's green I like her mind, she hates the scene My enemies are all too familiar They're the ones who used to call me friend I'm coloring outside your guidelines I was passing out when you were passing out your world One, two, three, four Who's punk, what's the score? You're on your own, you're all alone You're all alone, you're on your own

about

These demos are made with love and care, an homage to my DIY days, the friends I've made, the beefs I have with it, and how emo/pop punk/punk is truly just...country and folk music.

I've been lucky enough to get my chops from the DIY scene-especially places like TRACK HOUSE, a long gone house show venue in ATX that gave me shelter from many storms- and the cultures surrounding it.

Neither of these songs made the final cut for my EP, and so I'm sharing them with you, with the vulnerability of a house show, with the laughter of friends talking about their teenage selves. I hope that you enjoy them.

Many thanks to Dylan Pacheco, who is a brilliant song writer, fantastic human, and great friend.

Many thanks to Jawbreaker, for forming my teen years.

OTHER THANKS TO: My sister, who listens to me even when she shouldn't. Holy Anvil Recording and Raif, for giving me a studio to call my own. Colin Jenkins, who has always inspired me to look at things from different angles. And to you, always you.

about

YAINT Fayetteville, Arkansas

Eryn Brothers is an Arkansas grown singer-songwriter that's sometimes based out of Austin, TX. One minute she's smooth as a Julie London record on a rainy night, the next she's as rootintootin as any outlaw country star you'll come across. Her songs of heartbreak and self discovery are sure to leave you a puddle, pals. ... more
